“Coming to the Lord, a living stone–rejected by men but chosen and valuable to God– you yourselves, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house for a royal priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
For it is contained in Scripture: Look! I lay a stone in Zion, chosen and honored cornerstone, and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame!” Isaiah 28:16
“So honor will come to you who believe, but for the unbelieving, the stone that the builders rejected [from Psalm 118:22]–this One has become the cornerstone, and a stone to stumble over and a rock to trip over [from Isaiah 8:14]. They stumble because they disobey the message.” I Peter 2:7, 8
It was prophesied in the Old Testament that Jesus would be the cornerstone of His house but this stone would be a stumbling block for many. I see so many doing everything they can to find God without the Biblical Jesus. He is being rejected as prophesied.
As the winner of “The Voice” said last night, “It’s all about Jesus!” Yes, it is. Jesus said He would be hated. So, those who reinvent Jesus and strip Him of His supremacy and deity are stumbling over Him and rejecting Him. He is the cornerstone of God’s house.
What is the significance of the “cornerstone”? it is the chief foundation on which something is constructed or developed. Without Jesus as the cornerstone or foundation of your faith, your house will crumble.
Jesus has made it easy! So easy that men stumble right over it. Don’t be the part of prophecy of unbelief in the honored cornerstone.
